This position will provide essential support for renal investigatory studies conducted in small and large animals in the Hutchens lab. Responsibilities will include reproducible performance of bench techniques such as ELISA, and immunoblotting, as well as rodent physiologic measurements, low-complexity animal surgery, and preparation of animal tissue samples for immunohistology and other assays, Other responsibilities include maintaining the overall daily operations of the animal surgery core laboratory including maintaining laboratory supplies, equipment, and supply chain management.
Bachelor's Degree with major courses in field of research and 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
Experience with small animal handling and knowledge of basic lab animal husbandry practices
Demonstrated computer proficiency with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel (including spreadsheet creation and maintenance mastery), Outlook, and Powerpoint
Keyboarding proficiency and accuracy
Exceptional organizational skills
Detail-oriented and committed to follow-through
High level of initiative with the ability to work independently
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions or dealing with unusual situations
Exemplary communication skills over the phone, face to face, and written are required
Outstanding interpersonal skills to interact professionally with faculty, staff, and all levels of management
Demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and proven successful performance at past and present employers
3 5 years of relevant experience
Experience in rodent techniques/surgery and maintenance of transgenic mouse colonies
Experience with rodent and/or large animal physiologic measurement
