Global Category Manager (2001320) - Research Triangle Park, NC
Where the Chemistry Happens...
We are seeking a professional like you to serve the Seeds & Traits (APU) R&D stakeholders. In this role, you will develop and implement Category Strategies for the Scientific Material and Services (APU R&D) in close collaboration and alignment with respective business partners. You will be responsible for Supplier Management within Seed and Trait R&D categories. You will also serve as the Supplier Relationship Manager as a Lead buyer role for categories, 3 rd party contract negotiator for goods and services.
The role can be based out of our Agricultural Solutions US Headquarters in RTP, NC but we will consider other Seeds & Traits locations around the US.
Formula for Success: You Will...
* Business Partnering
o Interacts with leadership within APU R&D to align strategies
o Getting informed and involved in strategic projects
o Distribute and inform on strategies that can be of interest to the function leads
* Category Management
o Be the market expert for assigned area of spend (suppliers, technologies...)
o Lead the development, management and implementation of comprehensive sourcing strategies on Global and/or Regional basis in alignment with the Business & Procurement Strategy to deliver agreed saving targets and other value benefits that significantly impact financial results
o Improve process (automation, innovation, etc.)
o Develop supply strategies that deliver business requirements across assurance of supply, quality improvements, regulatory requirements, service, cost, reduction in lead-times and innovation
o Lead, develop and manage cross functional/cross regional category alignment
o Lead complex and business critical negotiations with key suppliers and create greater commercial awareness within the stakeholder community of the need for spend management.
* Supplier Management
o Lead, develop and manage the supply base for external spend within the assigned area of responsibilities
o Develop appropriate relationships with critical suppliers to ensure cost effective sources and alternatives for relevant categories
o Develop Continuous Improvement plans and Strategies for the supply base employing appropriate tools and techniques
o Leverage value from supplier relationships to create value beyond the contract
* Contract management
o Direct contact for negotiation all commercial Terms and conditions with the supplier
o collaborate with other support function for non-commercial T&C
o Responsible to link orders and quotations to existing contracts
o Keeping IBP's informed and in line with the contract
o Keep Risks to a minimal level.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
2 years Contract Negotiations with 3 rd parties (Scientific services providers)
2 years with a global experience with Scientific environment and stakeholders
Partner with R&D Management/Leadership to understand their strategy and align sourcing strategy & resources to deliver value contributions to the business.
Supplier Management including Negotiations and Contracting skills
Strategic Sourcing and Global Category management expertise
Market and Spend analysis knowledge
