JOBSUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Assistant VC/Deputy CIO, the Director of theITS Project Management Office (PMO) develops and maintains a project portfoliomanagement (PPM) framework and team responsible for responding to rapidorganizational changes and shifts to digital business. This position supportsand enables the organization's projects, programs, and structured work effortsto improve the overall PPM maturity across the IT organization and institution.Tracks and reports plans and expectations of IT-oriented initiatives. Integratesthe PMO into a larger IT service management framework that ensures end-to-endbusiness value from product/service ideation to retirement.
Identifies and implements project management processes, methods, tools, metrics, and guidelines and standards.
Defines, manages, and directs end-to-end PMO work efforts, which include leveraging best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying, and tracking benefits defined in business cases.
Oversees major project/program initiatives where a high level of organizational change, complexity, and/or visibility exists.
Develops and processes PMO roles, team configuration, and recruitment.
Coaches, mentors, and trains PMO staff and other staff within ITS.
Serves as an organizational change agent by reviewing and evaluating opportunities to improve project management best practices to achieve higher maturity in PPM.
Assists in developing and implementing best-practice IT service management frameworks and processes for the organization.
Builds and maintains relationships with senior leadership and key PMO stakeholders. Serves as a trusted advisor.
Facilitates a consensus, among the PMO stakeholders and organizational leadership, concerning the mission and vision of the PMO organization.
Engages senior leadership and business partners to continuously define and update the PMO mission, goals, and operating models to establish the PMO charter.
Mobilizes others within/outside the PMO and ITS to support and enable organizational change efforts within individual initiatives and inside business/operations units.
Assists in maturing the university's IT governance processes and adapting them to the product-centric digital business.
