Position Summary: Lead the delivery and support of University enterprise applications. Serve as the primary contact for University schools, departments, other ITS groups and vendors for all enterprise applications. Supervise and mentor a team of IT analysts and developers in their day-to-day tasks and longer-term projects. Manage applications team workload and monitor performance, deliverables, resolve issues and determine future applications and enhancements.
The Director will work directly with the Deputy CIO - Enterprise Applications, Network / Server groups, Desktop Support and other university staff to implement applications, user reporting, interface design, data conversion, software installs and upgrades.
Direct the allocation of resources to define and develop solutions for the enterprise applications support services of the University.
Provide management and hands-on technical expertise for University enterprise applications support
Plan, direct and coordinate the selection, implementation, management and maintenance of enterprise applications projects to achieve project goals
Develop project plans to establish goals, deadlines, funding, administrative technology procedures, staffing requirements and resource allocation
Coordinate the assignment of project staff. Assign duties, responsibilities and scope for IT projects. Direct and coordinate projects to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget. Coordinate intra and interdepartmental efforts in various areas
Supervise and mentor systems analysts, technical developers and report developers. Manage staff resources, evaluate team performance, set team and individual goals and develop improvement plans
Communicate with the Deputy CIO for daily and strategic assignment updates. Review short- and long-term objectives
Manage ongoing application technical operations including portal, database, Ethos, reporting and various integrations to vendor and cloud-based systems. Supervise the design of interfaces to insure efficient and secure interaction of data from enterprise applications to external systems.
Research and analyze industry trends and innovations as applicable to BANNER and existing University applications including cloud technologies
Review service requests originating from various sources. Examine and evaluate communications, both written and verbal. Maintain detailed documentation of all enterprise application components
Work with the Database Support group to guide and supervise the implementation of the Disaster Recovery plan for the ORACLE BANNER database, and related servers, including a functional database standby server and related technologies
Interface with management and staff in any area where enterprise applications are provided. Provide resource to address problem areas. Provide technical assistance, resource and follow up to administrative areas
Participate on University governance committees. Review tactical and strategic plans. Address new and recurring issues. Target areas in need of attention
Process administrative paperwork, initiate process and follow through for service reports, purchase requisitions, invoices, equipment inventory and departmental billing
Experience & Educational Background:
10 15 years relevant management and technical experience in an ERP environment (higher education and Banner strongly preferred)
Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Information Technology, MIS, Management or related discipline
Minimum 5 to 7 years supervising information technology professionals
Skills & Competencies:
The director will have a proven record of major systems implementation, bringing together business units and translating user requirements into coherent project specifications, and project specifications into reality.
Have an expert level understanding of enterprise applications, especially in higher education.
Should possess experience in maintaining on premises and cloud-based systems and the administration tools peculiar to the systems to be managed.
The position requires an understanding of enterprise applications best practices, appropriate security modeling, support and maintenance services and upgrade strategies.
Should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Should possess excellent organizational, supervisory and managerial skills
