Responsible for providing tactical managerial direction for Donor Services department to include: Mobile Operations (Greater San Antonio Area) and the Donor Services Operation in Victoria. Will ensure the collection of safe, pure and potent blood products at collection events. Responsible for monitoring operational performance and ensuring all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) are followed. Provide direct supervision and leadership to all assigned personnel. Provide world class customer service by capturing and being responsive to the voice of the customer (including donors) through established feedback channels in order to resolve issues and drive satisfaction in accordance with the BBG customer engagement, feedback, and complaint processes. It is essential that the incumbent have a valid driver's license and be at least 21 years old with a good driving record to meet organization driving standards. Major Duties and Responsibilities Essential Tasks Ensure that all donors are provided the optimal experience through active managerial direction and ensuring the embracement of the Donor Services Foundations by all assigned personnel. Provide direction, leadership and motivation for the Mobile Operations and Victoria based Donor Services operation. Ensure that whole blood, conversion, and other department initiatives are met. Ensure compliance with all SOPs and regulatory requirements. Abide by and enforce BBG, STBTC and departmental policies and procedures, to include actively listening to personnel issues, following STBTC policies and escalating when applicable. Ensure that random internal audits assessing donor flow, set-up, standardization, and staff performance are conducted on a frequent, reoccurring basis. Ensure timely investigation and follow-up of donor complaints/concerns. Participate in the development and implementation of departmental training to include training of direct reports and assigned personnel. In partnership with Fleet Management and Planning Operations, ensure Mobile Operations’ fleet of vehicles is maintained, cleaned and ready for operations.
Prepare, adhere and monitor the related elements of the department’s annual budget. Make recommendations to appropriate management regarding methods for improvement and/or solutions to potential problem areas. Interview and make recommendations for hiring, terminating, promoting, demoting, orienting, evaluating, counseling, and salary changes for departmental personnel. Train, encourage, and support effective customer service with all internal/external customers. Assist in the development of technical/administrative operational policies and procedures. Ensure employees meet company goals and performance metrics as assigned by STBTC and Department leadership. Review scheduling of assigned Operations to ensure operational needs are met. Conduct departmental/individual meetings for coaching and mentoring of assigned staff. Provide completed reports demonstrating the performance of assigned Operations, e.g. drive specific performance, group/individual performance, screening errors, phlebotomy issues, inventory control and other key performance indicators deemed necessary by Director. Maintain a close working relationship with departmental management, other departments, and all internal/external customers (including Mobile Accounts and Donors). Attend meetings, seminars, and other workshops as required. Provide oversight for SA Fixed Site Operations Team in the absence of key leadership. Performs other duties as assigned. Non-Essential Tasks Provide assistance to other departments as needed. Skills Must have effective leadership skills required to promote teamwork to build/foster an environment that focuses on excellent customer service. Must ensure all blood products are collected IAW departmental SOPs. Must be capable of evaluating and training assigned Operations Management on best practices to lead staff and meet/exceed strategic objectives. Must have excellent management skills required to oversee personnel and provide operational direction. Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions. Must have experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Visio, Powerpoint and Excel. Must have strong computer skills. Abilities Must be able to complete reports, plan budgets for multiple site locations, anticipate current and future organizational needs, and recommend applicable strategies for product collection and enhanced team performance in both verbal and written forms. Must be able to keep information confidential. Must be able to make decisions based on predetermined criteria. Must be neat in appearance and well groomed. Must be professional, detail oriented, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, communicative, and have the ability to work independently.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Education Licenses and/or Certifications Texas Operators Driver’s License Certified Medical Technologist (MT)(MLS/CLS) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Texas Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) preferred
